soooooo…

nothing too special as I did not have the time or probably the intension of an in depth test of the panasonic gf1, but as I have it now for about 2 weeks in action, I used it here and there, first with the 14-45mm/F3.5-5.6 ASPH/MEGA O.I.S that came with the kit and then with my nikkor 50mm 1.4 on the novoflex adapter.

I did not have the time to edit the video pieces together yet, but they will be coming soon hopefully.

as for the gf1 I think it is a great camera. well built, feels and is very sturdy. the image quality is very good for a camera like this . I guess I am just too spoiled by my dslr by now, but for example compared to the panasonic lx3 it pushes it forward even more.

I also have to say I really dislike(d) the 14-45mm kit lens that came with it. I probably should have ordered the pancake lens or just ordered it without a lens and got the novoflex lens adapter with it straight away. since I have my nikon 50mm 1.4 lens on it, it just transformed from a very good compact camera to a fantastic compact camera. and lets not talk about the videos yet, but just beautiful with the 5omm.

of course you loose the autofocus when ataching that adapter, but with the 14-45mm the autofocus did not impress me very much, but then again I might be spoiled by my d3.

not sure if I will give you a more in depth look into all this or just post more pictures and videos over time as there are so many more experienced testers out there.

so much for the basic shots. then I was lucky enough to have some great tickets for a diana krall concert here in cologne and I was not very happy with the performance the gf1 showed there… BUT!!! I am sure it was not the camera itself then rather the lens. I wished I could have used the 50mm there already, but the adapter jsut arrived a few days after the concert. still, not too bad… or?

and here just a few shots with the novoflex adapter and the nikon 50mm 1.4 lens on it. sorry if some have a slight unsharpness… I am still training my manual focussing.

after a few weeks and actually just expecting it for the beginning of november my novoflex lens adapter for micro fourthirds cameras arrived. I recently bought a panasonic gf-1 as a replacement for my lost panasonic lx-3. its a beautiful camera, but from the beginning I knew I wanted to be able to attach my nikon lenses to it, especially for recording video. and not much beats a 50mm 1.4 in my opinion anyway

so it arrived and here you have a a few shots of the adapter ring itself, attached to the gf-1 and and with the 50mm 1.4 af-s added also. and on the last photo I just tested how the hoodman loupe looks on it. and it actually works great with it. I was originally thinking about buying the optional viewfinder for the gf-1, but I might reconsider…

I will post photos and videos and maybe even comparison photos with the d3 also in the coming week hopefully. for now enjoy these, I will relax now a little bit as I am off for another shoot tomorrow morning.

hey there people,

after a good three month I finally managed to go through at least a few of my 6000+ vacation photos me and my girlfriend took in our vacation back in july/august.
and here you have the first selection I took and edited. these are not random photos as you might think initially. before going on the vacation I wanted to start some kind of photo project in those days we were away. so as I wasn’t sure how much time I was going to have and what exactly I could do any single day I just decided on taking these shots, well actually there should have been more of these, but I just forgot it at times, especially as we got to california where we did less walking and more driving then in new york city.

well our vacation started with us taking the train from cologne, where we live, to frankfurt to catch our plane to new york. we spend four days in new york walking around like maniacs, but enjoying ourselves a lot. it wasn’t the first time there for either of us, but we still did the whole nine tourist yards I guess. from NYC we flew to san diego as I wanted to check out comic con for the first time and see what all the fuzz is about (well you might have guess till now that I am a major geek).
after san diego we were headed to los angeles which is one of the few cities in the world I would really like to move to. I just love it there. there we spent quite a few more days then in san diego and NYC so far and enjoyed it very much. after that we flew back to NYC for three more days and then back home.

yeah you ask yourselves why not fly back from los angeles and the next time I will give it more thought. initially I thought it would be good to break the flight time down, but with not too many days in between flights it just was more of a hassle then flying 12 hours straight and it was actually more flying… anyways. we enjoyed the whole trip a lot and can’t wait to get back at some point.

as for the photos I decided to put the d3 down where- and whenever I thought about it or thought it would be nice, throw on the 14-24mm lens and shoot a photo at 14mm blindly. don’t ask me why, because I have no clue , either way it is, even though not as complete as I wanted it a nice series of photos and I hope you’ll enjoy them as I do.

as for all the other photos we took, you have to be a bit more patient as its a lot of work and I don’t have to much sparetime at the moment.

Some of you might already have seen the first two of this series, but as the weekend has arrived I present you all six photos in one go now. As already mentioned on flickr, chloe was actually our makeup artist that day and jumped in as a model when one of the model didn’t come. and she did a fantastic job. she has modeled before which was very helpful and fun and luckily will model again
