not sure if it was last year or when exactly when I saw the first pics of the hot toys iron man figure, but I wanted it right away. well… it took quite a while I got hold of one here in germany as I somehow didn’t want to order one via ebay.
anyhow! I’ve always been a huge iron man fan, well… when I was much much younger and then again somewhere in between and the latest when all the fuzz about about the amazing iron man movie came up.
so I finally got around to take a few quick test shots in our garden the day before yesterday.
I actually have already setup most of the setup for the shoot itself, but I haven’t had all the time I want so far.
well well enough talk, for now anyway…

the past week was quite different. at the beginning of this week I finished all open projects I had left. so the past two days have been quite different as I had a lot of time on my hand. well there was the basic administrative stuff, but hey.
I spent a good time planning new shootings and projects, getting in contact with new models and planning a few location scouting trips. felt very good, especially with no pressure pushing towards some deadlines.
another great thing this week, and you might have read it on my twitter stream, my first print tests arrived. I went with whitewall after a lot of research and I am very pleased!
they really are pros. the colors came out just right, the quality of the canvas print and the one behind acryl glass is just amazing, crisp and so true to my digital copy.
I printed the same HHHDR photo of the cologne cathedral I took a few weeks back so I could compare the print quality.
It really makes such a great difference to see your work printed… and then especially in such a wonderful way and size.

in further news 
I finally got my gelaskin for my laptop and I love it! I kinda got bored with the plain aluminum silver, so @ethem and I decided on the designs we wanted and here we are 
what do you think. in the second picture I put my iphone and ipod with the gelaskins I already had in too. I really like the quality and the fact you can take them off and put them on again, even if its just to rearrange and fit the “sticker” correctly.

yesterday evening as we finished our bbq it somehow just hit me and I had the vague memory of the end scene of terminator 2 in front of my eye as I was looking into our bbq grill.
I suddenly grabbed my d3, popped the 105mm macro lens on it, a leather jacket lego figure, a chain, some aluminum foil and about 15-20 minutes of preparation and tadaaaaa!
don’t ask me why, I just needed to do it at that time. with more preparation and all it could have brought some different result and a bit closer to the movie, as I just had a look at the scene right now, but it still turned out well, right?
its a bit grainy at ISO 800 and no additional light besides the glow of the coal.

here we have two more shots from this weeks pl0gbar. I actually wanted to shoot an HDR of the clouds but as I did not have my tripod with me I this time messed up the HHHDR .
ah well, but I took two of the pictures and jsut slightly edited them. a bit of basic level adjustment and on the black and white one really just some minor burn.
